Golden goal sends #2 CPP to fourth straight CCAA title match

Box score

LOS ANGELES
- Cal Poly Pomona is moving on to its fourth straight CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament title match after a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 3 seed, Cal State San Bernardino. (Nov. 12)

Kevin Hernandez was the hero of the night for the Broncos as he headed in the game-winner in the 99th minute. It came off a corner kick sent to the far side of the box to Fin Jackson. However, instead of heading the ball towards the goal, Jackson sent it back to his teammate, and Hernandez immediately deposited it in the net from 10 yards out for the game-winner.

The No. 2 seeded Broncos led most of the match after Garrett Jensen scored in the 7th minute. Cal State San Bernardino found the equalizer in the 72nd minute when Isaac Balderrama bent a free kick around the wall and into the bottom corner of the net to tie it at 1-1.

Cal State San Bernardino outshot Cal Poly Pomona 18-11 in the match. Jordan Aldama had six saves for the Broncos, and Jordan Nieves made two for the Yotes.

The Broncos will move on to the CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament title match on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m.

Cal State San Bernardino, who was No. 11 in the latest regional rankings, will wait to see if it will earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Super-Region 4. The announcement will be made on Monday, Nov. 15, at 3:30 p.m.
