For the second consecutive week, and the third time this season, Cal Poly Pomona’s Daisy Duke has been named the CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week.
During the week of Oct. 25-31, Duke pounded out 27 kills with a .321 hitting percentage to lead the 22nd-ranked Broncos to two victories, including a key win over Cal State L.A. for a second place tie with San Francisco State.
Duke, an opposite side hitter, led the team with 28.5 points (3.56 per set) with 3.38 kills per set. She also assisted on three blocks with three digs. She tallied her kills on 56 attempts with nine errors in two matches.
In a crucial and thrilling five-set match against Cal State LA, the sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga smashed 19 kills on 39 attempts with five errors (.359) on offense and assisted on two blocks on defense. Duke had eight kills, three digs and a block-assist in a three-set win over Cal State Dominguez Hills last Friday.
She currently ranks fifth in the CCAA in hitting percentage (.367) and sixth in kills per set (3.39).
Duke was the conference’s player of the week for Aug. 30-Sept. 5, and last week (Oct. 18-24)
The Broncos travel north to take on Cal State East Bay on Thursday and then back to SoCal visit Cal State San Marcos on Saturday.
