With two game-winning goals, Tami Kwong of Cal State East Bay was voted the CCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.
Kwong, CSUEB’s leading scorer netted two game-winners to lead the Pioneers to their first ever 2-0 start during CCAA play. CSUEB posted a 3-2 overtime win over Cal State Dominguez Hills and shutout Cal State Monterey Bay 2-0.
The senior forward, who played just 54 minutes off the bench, scored the golden boot in the double-OT win over CSUDH on Friday. She earned a start on Sunday against CSUMB when she scored the first game in the 20th minute in a shutout. The UC Davis transfer from Pleasanton also drew a foul in the box during the second half that resulted in a penalty kick goal for the Pioneers.
Kwong is Cal State East Bay’s first CCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week winner.
The Pioneers look to continue their best start on the road next week with matches at Cal State LA (Friday) and Cal Poly Pomona (Sunday).
