Humboldt State’s Marco Silveira has picked up his second Men’s Soccer Player of the Week award, for the week of Oct. 11-17, after leading the Lumberjacks last week.
Silveira was part of four scoring plays in the Jacks’ 6-1 blow-out win over Cal State East Bay on Sunday. He helped HSU snap a four-match winless streak with two consecutive wins. Humboldt State had begun the year 6-0 with six shutouts.
After helping HSU to a 2-1 win on the road at Stanislaus State last Thursday, Silveria and the Jacks returned home with an offensive explosion on Sunday.
Versus Cal State East Bay on Sunday, a senior from Salvador, Brazil, assisted on three goals and scored the eventual game-winner. The forward helped on the Jacks’ first goal before scoring in the 19th minute for a 2-0 lead. He assisted on goals No. 4 and 5 as HSU built a 5-0.
Silveira leads Humboldt State with six goals and 10 assists. He is the CCAA leader in assists and game-winning goals with four. His 22 points is second best in the conference.
Humboldt State hosts Sonoma State on Friday and San Francisco State on Senior Day Sunday.
