For the seventh time in her career, Alexis Cardoza has been named the CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week. Cardoza led the CSUSB Coyotes over Cal Poly Pomona twice last week to earn the award for the week of Oct. 11-17.
The two-time All-American smashed 36 kills with 12 errors on 98 attempts for a hitting percentage of .245 against the Broncos as CSUSB improved to 10-0 in CCAA play with a pair of 3-1 victories.
The senior outside hitter from Chino Hills also had 31 digs and two aces, accounting for 37.5 points. Cardoza averaged 4.5 kills per set, which is well above her 3.97 kills per set average. She also averaged 3.88 digs per set.
At Pomona on Thursday, Cardoza slammed 19 kills with 13 digs against the second-place Broncos. Then, at home versus CPP, she put-away 17 kills with 18 digs and two blocks.
Cal State San Bernardino, which ran its conference-winning streak to 32 matches, moved up to No. 9 in the latest AVCA coaches poll. During the streak, CSUSB has won 96 of 104 sets.
This week, CSUSB embarks on a trip to the North with matches at Sonoma State Thursday and Humboldt State Saturday.
