Brad Sparrer, who led Stanislaus State to a tournament title, has been named the CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week.

Sparrer fired a three-over 147 in the two-round Wildcat Classic at the Links at Rolling Hills in Corning. He finished second, just one shot behind Academy of Art’s Matthew Watkins.

With three players in the top-four, Stanislaus State captured the team victory in the tournament hosted by Chico State. The Warriors tallied a 21-over 597, beating second place Western Washington by nine strokes. Collectively, the Warriors shot a tournament-low 288 on Tuesday.

The tournament was shortened to two rounds instead of the originally scheduled three because of high winds on both Monday and Tuesday. Monday's sustained winds of 20+ mph and gusts over 30 mph forced the cancelation of round two in the afternoon.

The junior from Hollister started out with a 77 on Monday and shot a two-under 70, one of the three tournament-low 70s on the day, on Tuesday.

Sparrer is now a two-time Player of the Week honoree. He snagged this award for the week of Oct. 16-22 in 2019 after winning the Otter Invitational, where the Warriors will complete their fall schedule next week in Seaside.
