Smit's Career-High Earns CCAA Player of the Week Acclaim Feb 4, 2020 Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal Poly Pomona senior Kasey Smit has been named CCAA Player of the Week for Jan. 27-Feb. 2, after helping the team to two home victories. A forward hailing from Mission Viejo, Smit averaged 21.0 points on 71 percent shooting and 8.0 rebounds along with contributing 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals as the Broncos dispatched San Francisco State and Sonoma State. In Thursday’s game against the Gators, Smit was an effective 7-for-9 from the floor in 30 minutes on the court. Saturday, she poured in 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds in a 71-65 win over the visiting Seawolves. Her 26 points represents a new career-high in a Bronco uniform after playing her first two collegiate seasons at Irvine Valley College. The victorious weekend lifted Cal Poly Pomona into a tie for third in the CCAA standings with an overall mark of 14-7 and CCAA record of 10-5 to pull even with Cal State East Bay as teams vye for postseason positioning. The Broncos hit the road this weekend, traveling to Humboldt State Thursday and capping the trip at Stanislaus State Saturday.
