Linton Acliese III averaged 28.0 points and 7.0 rebounds during a weekend split by San Francisco State, to earn his first CCAA Player of the Week distinction for Feb. 10-16.

A redshirt junior out of Richmond in his first on-the-court season for the Gators after a transfer from Cabrillo College and medical redshirt a year ago, Acliese shot 65.5 percent (19-29) from the field and 94.4 percent (17-18) from the free throw line.

During Thursday night’s 77-69 home victory over Humboldt State, Acliese led all players with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor and 6-of-7 from the stripe, adding four boards and three steals to share the game high.

Acliese then posted his seventh double-double with game bests of a career-high 32 points and 10 rebounds in a narrow 81-79 loss Saturday at sixth-place Stanislaus State. He almost single-handedly kept his side in the game, with no teammate offering more than eight points on the night. Acliese went 10-for-17 from the field, including 1-of-3 from three-point range, and knocked down all 11 free throws. He also blocked one shot over 32 minutes.

Acliese is San Francisco State’s first CCAA Player of the Week of the season, and first since Jiday Ugbaja on Feb. 5, 2019. The CCAA Newcomer of the Year candidate is up to second in the conference in scoring (18.2 points per game), fifth in rebounding (7.6), sixth in field goal percentage (.481) and eighth in free throw percentage (.786). He is the lone Gator to have started all 25 games. Acliese is averaging 26.7 points over his last three since a season-low five points to begin the month at Cal State San Bernardino.

At 9-16 overall and 6-13 in league play, 11th-place San Francisco State is still mathematically eligible for one of four remaining CCAA Tournament spots, with three critical contests to go. The Gators are at fourth-place Chico State in their lone game this week on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. They wrap up the regular season with a pair of home dates during the following week versus two teams right in front of them in Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA.
