Continuing to power the league’s scoring efforts, Humboldt State senior Alexia Thrower has been selected as CCAA Player of the Week for Feb. 3-9. It is the third weekly honor of the season for the Las Vegas native, and the fifth of her career.
Thrower helped propel the Jacks to home victories over Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino over the weekend, bringing Humboldt State to an even 9-9 in conference action, and 13-10 overall. That keeps the squad well in the conversation for the CCAA postseason, currently in seventh tied with Chico State. The top eight teams advance to the bracket.
For the week, Thrower averaged 25.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists with double-doubles in each game.
In a 72-69 victory against the Broncos, she was 9-of-15 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the stripe to tally 24 points. Thrower finished with 13 rebounds and three assists in the contest. She followed that up with a 26-point performance against the Coyotes as Humboldt State recorded a 107-62 win, eclipsing the 100-point mark for the first time this season as the highest scoring output recorded by a CCAA team in 2019-20.
Averaging 21.7 points per game on the year, Thrower ranks 10th nationally in scoring with the fourth-most total minutes on the court in Division II. Her 9.8 rebounds per game is second in the CCAA, as are her nine double-doubles on the season.
Next, Humboldt State makes the short road trip to the Bay Area, first competing at San Francisco State Thursday before meeting up with Sonoma State on Saturday. Both contests are set for a 5:30 p.m. tip, and both can be seen for free on
