Seits Set on CCAA Player of the Week Selection Jan 7, 2020 Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal State San Marcos junior guard Blake Seits averaged 22 points per game during a perfect home weekend to earn his first CCAA Player of the Week award for Dec. 30-Jan. 5. Seits, out of nearby Ramona and a first-year transfer from San Diego Miramar College, also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists while connecting on 8-of-12 three-pointers (.667) as his Cougars routed league contender Cal State East Bay, 83-56, on Thursday night, and Cal State Monterey Bay, 91-79, on Saturday afternoon. He shot 62.5 percent (15-24) from the field overall. Against East Bay, Seits collected 16 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist in a then-season-high 35 minutes of court time, shooting 5-of-10 from the floor. Seits then dropped in a game-best 28 of the Cougars’ season-high 91 points against the Otters, adding eight rebounds to share the game high, alongside one assist and a steal. He went 10-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-9 from long range, and made both free throws. Seits turned in his top effort of the season in points, field goals made, three-pointers made (tied), rebounds and minutes (39). He has produced 20-plus-points in three of his last six games, while starting the last five in a row. The previous CCAA weekly honoree for Cal State San Marcos was senior teammate Khalil Fuller to conclude the 2018-19 campaign last March 5. The weekend sweep put Cal State San Marcos back into the postseason conversation, just one game back of a CCAA Tournament position in ninth at an even 7-7 overall and 3-5 in league play. The Cougars embark on a tough northern road trip this week, going all the way up to Arcata and Humboldt State on Thursday night, before heading back to Turlock to face Stanislaus State on Saturday in primetime.
