After leading Cal State San Marcos to a pair of home wins to climb back to the top of the CCAA standings, Emma Forel has been named CCAA Player of the Week for Jan. 13-19. This is her second career honor, picking up weekly acclaim once in her sophomore campaign.

For the week, Forel posted averages of 18.5 points on 65 percent shooting and 12.0 rebounds in victorious efforts against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona. She also added four steals and two assists on her home court. The junior from Lyon, France, has now strung her consecutive double-double count to five with six on the season.

Against the Coyotes, Forel scored 17 to go along with 13 rebounds in 25 minutes on the floor as the Cougars cruised to the 74-51 win. Saturday against the Broncos, she added 20 points and 11 rebounds, both game-bests and a season-best in scoring against a conference foe. Cal State San Marcos took the 79-63 victory to sweep the regular season series as the Cougars rebounded nicely from last weekend's road split.

Forel has been an effective force for the Cougars this season, leading the league and rating third in Division II in shooting percentage (61.9%), while pulling down 9.5 rebounds a night, third in the conference.

Cal State San Marcos currently sits in a three-way tie at the top of the table with a 14-3 overall record and a 9-3 mark in league play.

The Cougars are on the road this weekend, heading up to Sonoma State Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. tip. Then, Cal State San Marcos meets up with San Francisco State Saturday at 1 p.m. Both contests can be seen on the CCAA Network.
