After firing one of the lowest rounds in Chico State history, Wildcat junior Myoung Kim has been named CCAA Golfer of the Week for Sept. 18-24.

Kim, a transfer from Orange Coast Community College hailing from South Korea, carded a final-round 64 to charge 10 spots up the leaderboard at the Western Washington Invitational at Bellingham Golf and Country Club to finish in third, two strokes behind the tournament co-leaders.

Only Chico State players Eric Frazetta and Brian Benedictson have shot 64 or lower for the Wildcats since solid record-keeping is available, beginning with the 2001-02 season. Kim is the first player to shoot 64 at the WWU Invitational since the University of British Columbia’s Jack Wood did it in 2014.

The Wildcats finished tied for third in the team standings after carding a cumulative score of 10-under on Tuesday, climbing up three spots on the leaderboard to tie with fellow CCAA team Stanislaus State with a final three-round team tally of 860.

The next fall event for the Wildcats is their own Sierra Central Wildcat Classic at Butte Creek Country Club on Oct. 14-15.
