Cal Poly Pomona junior forward Taylor Scott scored three goals over two wins away from home to pick up CCAA Player of the Week distinction for Sept. 16-22.

The Santa Clarita native accounted for both Bronco tallies in Saturday’s 2-1 overtime triumph over Seattle Pacific in a neutral-site meeting in San Diego. Scott opened the scoring in the 29th minute, getting on the end of an Ambria Pogue corner kick. She then nabbed the overtime winner at 91:24, slamming home the rebound off a blocked Jessica Llamas shot attempt. The performance marked Scott’s first collegiate two-goal brace.

In Thursday’s 3-2 victory over another GNAC foe in Northwest Nazarene, also on a neutral field in San Diego, Scott’s strike broke a 1-1 tie in the 84th minute. She then assisted Pogue on what proved to be the decider just 2:05 later as the Broncos hung on for a third straight win.

Scott currently leads Cal Poly Pomona with four goals and nine total points, after contributing two goals over her first two years in the program.

With last week’s results, Cal Poly Pomona improved to a perfect 3-0 this season on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University, having kicked off its campaign with a 2-0 shutout over 2018 NCAA Championship participant Point Loma on Sept. 5.

Cal Poly Pomona takes its 4-2 overall record into its CCAA opener and lone match for the week this Wednesday evening against area rival Cal State San Bernardino.
