CALIFORNIA – After leading her team to a second straight CCAA championship banner while earning an individual title of her own, Jaime Jacob headlines the 2018-19 CCAA Women’s Golf All-CCAA Team, voted on by the league’s six coaches and announced by the conference today.

Jacob, back-to-back CCAA individual medalist at the conference championships, earned her title after carding a final-round 69 punctuated by a birdie on the final hole to claim a two-stroke win over teammate and fellow All-CCAA first team seclection Claire Hogle. Jacob, ranked seventh in the last GolfStat individual rankings which came out immediately prior to the win, averaged 72.4 strokes per round this season picking up two tournament wins and eight Top 10 finishes.

Just in its second season, Jacob is the only woman to ever with Player of the Year acclaim, and joins a trio of men (Lee Gearhart, Chico State; J.J. Jakovac, Chico State; Jarin Todd; Sonoma State) as back-to back golf honorees.

Jacob was matched in her Top 10 finishes by just one woman, CCAA Freshman of the Year Megan DaLeo of Sonoma State. The native of Plano, Texas, also carded a conference-best three event wins in her first season for the Seawolves, with a 74.5 stroke per round average and a seventh place finish in last week’s CCAA Championships. Nationally, DaLeo stands in 27th as the highest ranked freshman in the country.

Newcomer of the Year honors go to a Cal State East Bay golfer for the second straight season. Pioneer junior Mikia Fang joined the program after two seasons at Sierra College. Fang competed in five tournaments this year, carding a season-best round of 75 at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout where she competed as an individual.

In his fifth season at the helm of the Cougars and ninth overall at Cal State San Marcos, Greg Hutton was voted as the Coach of the Year for consecutive seasons. The team is currently sitting in second in the West Region rankings and third in the Golfstat national rankings, eyeing a bid into the NCAA West Super Regional set for May 6-8 in Amarillo, Texas.

Along with the indivudual award winners, a 10-member All-CCAA First Team was selected. Joining Jacob and DaLeo on the list are Carolin Chang and Dhristi Karumbaya of Cal State East Bay, Brittany O’Bryant of Chico State and Cal State Monterey Bay’s Linnea Karlsson. DaLeo is joined by teammate Cristina Picariello and the remainder of the first team comprised of Cal State San Marcos golfers in CCAA runner-up Hogle, third-place finisher Breann Horn and Savannah Magallon.

This year’s All-CCAA team boasts five of the six conference squads with at least one selection and three freshman players earning distinction. Five women are repeat first-team performers (Chang, Hogle, Jacob, Karlsson, Magallon) while Picariello bumped up from honorable mention selection one year ago.
