McCollum Repeats as Golfer of the Week Apr 10, 2019 For the second straight week, Chico State’s Josh McCollum has earned CCAA Golfer of the Week to cap the league’s regular-season weekly awards. McCollum played his way to the lowest round by a Wildcat since 2015 at the Mustang Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz. after highlighting his tournament play with a scinitllating second-round 65. McCollum is now 30-under par over his last eight rounds with six rounds of 68 or lower. All told, he fired off eight birdies in each of the first two rounds and six in the closing 18 to lead the 120-player tournament field with 22 red numbers to his name. The senior from Upland finished the event in third place in both the team and individual standings, with a 12-under, 204 to land three shots behind champion Ethan Casto of Western Washington and one shot behind second-place finisher Jack Duguid of Colorado-Colorado Springs. As a team, Chico State also took third place on a hotly contested leaderboard, landing four strokes out of first. McCollum and the Wildcats will now turn their focus toward defending their CCAA Championship on April 23–24 at Black Horse in Seaside.
