Elis Svard Claims CCAA Golfer of the Week
Holding his own against Division I competition at one of the Bay Area’s most prestigious courses, CCAA defending champion Elis Svard has been tabbed as CCAA Golfer of the Week for March 6-12.
Svard, a a junior from Sodertalje, Sweden, fired off rounds of 70-71-74 to compile a three-round tally of 2-over 215 at The Olympic Club Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of San Francisco. Finishing in 14th and one stroke back from a cluster of five men tied at ninth,
The lone NCAA Division II entrants into the field of 13 teams, Svard rolled in eight birdies on the 6,891-yard par-71 layout of the Lake Course, host of five U.S. Open Championships.
Cal State Monterey Bay will jump right back into action next week at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout March 18-19 at Corica Park Golf Course in Alameda. It will be the 21st-ranked Otters final regular season tournament before hosting the CCAA Championships April 22–24 at Blackhorse GC in Seaside.
