Holdgrafer, Morley Secure CCAA Baseball Awards Feb 26, 2019 Upperclassmen Tim Holdgrafer and Brian Morley have been named CCAA Pitcher and Player of the Week for Feb. 18-24, respectively. Holdgrafer, a senior right-hander from Cal Poly Pomona, tossed a no-hitter, the seventh in Broncos’ baseball history, in Friday’s 9-0 victory over No. 14 UC San Diego in Pomona. The San Diego native threw 120 pitches in his no-hit effort, giving up four walks and striking out 11 while improving to a perfect 4-0 on the year. While he is the seventh in program history to throw a no-hitter, he is only the second to do it in a nine-inning ballgame. Holdgrafer’s no-hitter is the first in the CCAA since 2015, but the first in a nine-inning contest Since Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Bret Montgomery hurled a no-no Feb. 13, 2010. On the other side of the plate, Morley a senior for Cal State Monterey Bay enjoyed a monster weekend for the Otters. His stellar series against Cal State LA included a .643 batting average with two doubles, a triple and two home runs for a slugging percentage of 1.357. For good measure, the transfer from Old Dominion added six runs and 13 RBI against the Golden Eagles, capping the weekend with two walks and a two-run home run Sunday afternoon. Next, the Otters travel to Chico State for a weekend series, while the Broncos play a home-and-home series against Cal State LA.
