Individual Medalist Ryan Bisharat Claims Weekly Honors Feb 20, 2019 After taking home individual medalist honors at the Coyote Classic, Cal State San Marcos’ Ryan Bisharat has been named CCAA Golfer of the Week for Feb. 13-19. Bisharat, a junior from San Diego, carded an opening-round 65 at Oak Valley GC in Belmont to vault to the top of the leaderboard tied with Preston Smith of Colorado School of Mines after the first two rounds of action. He then added three more birdies during his final round to close with a 54-hole total of 8-under 208 to edge Smith by two strokes. All told, Bisharat rolled in a tournament-best 16 birdies, playing the par 3’s with a 2.67 average score. This is Bisharat’s first career weekly conference honor, and the first for a Cal State San Maracos golfer since Oct. 3, 2017 when Chris Tuulik earned accolades. Bisharat’s first-place finish helped the Cougars to third in the team standings, five strokes behind Colorado School of Mines and two shots back from fellow CCAA foe Cal State Dominguez Hills. Cal State San Marcos next competes in UC San Diego's SoCal Intercollegiate on March 4-5 at Carlton Oaks CC in Santee.
