Daytone Jennings guided Cal State San Bernardino to a comfortable sweep of its own holiday tournament, and has earned his first CCAA Player of the Week selection for Nov. 25-Dec. 1.

The redshirt junior forward out of Battle Creek, Mich., and second-year transfer from Kilgore College (Texas) averaged 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game on .760 shooting (19-25) to lead his team to a 2-0 mark in the CSUSB Thanksgiving Classic.

In Friday’s 83-74 victory over Texas A&M International, Jennings poured in 28 points, his high as a Coyote, on 11-for-14 shooting from the field. He added nine boards, three steals and an assist, with the 11 made field goals his most for Cal State San Bernardino.

Jennings then produced a double-double of 22 points and season-high 14 rebounds in Saturday’s 91-57 romp over Saint Katherine. He was 8-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the line, dishing out three assists. It was Jennings’ second double-double of the young season, and 10th in two years as a Coyote.

Jennings had the game highs in points and rebounds in both contests over the weekend, and grabbed more offensive boards than the entire opposing team on each night, with six on Friday and eight on Saturday. TAMIU had five and USK just three.

Cal State San Bernardino, at 5-2 overall, is idle this week due to final exams. The Coyotes will conclude non-conference action on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Academy of Art, before returning to CCAA play with an even 1-1 league mark Dec. 12 in Hayward.
