Humboldt State senior Alexia Thrower has earned her second CCAA Player of the Week award, for Dec. 9-15.

The Las Vegas native is leading the conference in both points (21.2) and rebounds (10.5) per game and contributed back-to-back double-doubles for the Jacks in a weekend split over Bay Area foes.

Thrower scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Thursday’s 71-59 home victory against San Francisco State. Both figures were game highs to go along with three steals, two assists and 71 percent shooting from the field.

She then came back with 14 points and 12 rebounds on the road in a battle of league leaders at Cal State East Bay. Thrower also contributed a pair of assists and blocks in the game. The Jacks rallied from a 16-point deficit to nab a late-game lead before eventually falling to the Pioneers, 59-58, in the CCAA Game of the Week.

Thrower now has five double-doubles on the season and is the only woman in the CCAA to average double-digit points and rebounds. She is joined by just 27 others in the country to average a double-double and is one of four in the West Region (Jerusha Paine, Dominican; Cassie Pisik, Fresno Pacific; Bria Thames, Saint Martin’s).

Now standing at 8-3 overall and 4-2 in league action, Humboldt State has one more contest before the calendar flip, traveling to Chico State this Saturday. Tipoff between the Jacks and the Wildcats is set for 5:30 p.m.

Also nominated:
Daisha Abdelkader, Chico State
Tehya Burroughs, Cal State San Bernardino
