Cal State LA's Bordonaro Nets CCAA Player of the Week

Sweeping through the weekend with a pair of victories, Cal State LA’s Sydney Bordonaro has been named CCAA Player of the Week for Dec. 2-8. This is the first career weekly award for Bordonaro, a graduate transfer from Long Beach State.
The guard from Pittsburgh, Pa., had a sensational week to lead the Golden Eagles to their first two conference wins of the season. Bordonaro averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists as Cal State LA picked up their first CCAA victory at home against San Francisco State while knocking off Stanislaus State on the road to cap the weekend.
In Thursday’s home contest, Bordonardo finished with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting as Cal State LA recorded its highest scoring output of the season in a 92-65 victory. She was an effective 5-of-6 from distance while adding nine rebounds and three assists for the Golden Eagles.
Then, Bordonardo scored a season-high 28 points, including the go-ahead basket with 36 seconds remaining in an 85-82 win against the Warriors on Saturday. She was 10-of-17 from the floor, including a 6-of-10 effort from 3-point range as the Golden Eagles handed Stanislaus State its first loss of the season in league action.
Next up, Cal State LA takes on non-conference foes Central Washington and Seattle Pacific in a road trip to the Pacific Northwest. The Golden Eagles face off against the Wildcats Saturday, while meeting up with the Falcons Monday. Both contests are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip.
