Dawkins Keys Two Big Victories for Cal State LA En Route to Weekly Honors Nov 19, 2019 Complete list of weekly winners >>> After propelling Cal State LA to a pair of non-conference wins with back-to-back 20-point performances, senior Shacquille Dawkins has been named CCAA Player of the Week for Nov. 11-17. The guard from Valencia poured in a game-high 25 points to lead the Golden Eagles to a big road win at nationally-ranked Azusa Pacific, 90-82, on Tuesday. Dawkins followed up the big night against the Cougars with 22 points, including the go-ahead free throws in a 86-83 win over Fresno Pacific on Saturday. Dawkins was 4-of-4 from the line in the final 41 seconds, and also had the key strip and steal with Cal State LA protecting a one-point lead in the final seconds en route to the win. Along with his effective scoring, Dawkins supplied averages of 5.0 steals, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the two contests as well. Next up, the Golden Eagles open conference play on the road, first facing off with Cal State East Bay Thursday. The weekend will conclude Saturday in Arcata against Humboldt State with both games set for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
