Four goals, including her first career hat trick, made Stanislaus State senior Sadie Ortiz the final CCAA Player of the Week choice of the 2019 campaign, for Nov. 4-10.

The forward is a product of Atwater and third-year transfer from Fresno State. Ortiz scored all three goals during Thursday night’s 3-0 home victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. The natural hat trick came over just the first 12:46 of the game.

Stan State had already clinched a first CCAA Tournament return since 2016 heading into the match, but the result assured the Warriors of a home date in the first round.

Ortiz struck a mere 34 ticks after the opening whistle, and added a long-range effort from the top of the penalty area at 8:45. Both of those scores were assisted by sophomore teammate Summer England. Ortiz then turned in junior Ilena Rivera’s pass in the 13th minute to complete her achievement. It was her first multiple-goal performance as a collegian.

In Saturday’s 2-1 defeat of Cal State East Bay on her Senior Day, Ortiz opened the scoring at the 56:45 mark of the second half, set up again by Rivera through a right-sided cross that she shot into the back of the net from inside the 18-yard box.

Her weekend haul pushed Ortiz’s season goal total up to a team-leading and career-high 10, with her point total at a team-best 26 through six assists. Six of her scores have decided games. Ortiz has started all 54 contests in her three years at Stan State.

Ortiz is the second Warrior to earn the league’s weekly distinction this season, joining fellow senior Selia Torres from Oct. 8.

Stanislaus State has earned the No. 4 seed for the 2019 CCAA Tournament, and thus the right to host a first-round match this Tuesday. The Warriors will welcome fifth-seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills, with kickoff set for a primetime 6 p.m. at Warrior Stadium in Turlock. The team advancing out of Tuesday, will head to La Jolla for a Friday semifinal date with top-seeded regular-season champion and 10th-ranked Sonoma State. That contest is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start at Triton Soccer Stadium.
