Svard's Second-Place Finish Secures Him CCAA Weekly Honors

After carding back-to-back 70s, senior Elis Svard has claimed CCAA Golfer of the Week for Oct. 1-8. This is his fifth career conference weekly award.
Hailing from Sodertalje, Sweden, Svard claimed second on the final individual leaderboard at the Golfweek Division II Fall Invitational at El Campeon GC in Howie in the Hills, Fla. His two-day tally of 4-under 140 at the rain-shortened event was four strokes out of the lead, and marks the sixth time in the last 12 collegiate events that Svard has finished either first or second. Svard rolled in 26 pars, matching teammate Brian Whitson and Tampa’s Hogan Bendert for tops of the tournament.
Svard helped Cal State Monterey Bay to a third-place team finish, trailing only No. 4 Barry and No. 17 Lee.
Cal State Monterey Bay will take next week off from competition before returning to action Oct. 21–22 by hosting the Otter Invitational.
