For the third time of the season, and 10th time in her career, Jaime Jacob of Cal State San Marcos reigns as CCAA Golfer of the Week, this time for Oct. 16-22.

Jacob, a senior from Encinitas, took home runner-up individual honors after firing a 71-72–143 to finish one stroke out of the lead at the DII West Region Preview held at La Costa and hosted by the Cougars. Jacob and winner Emily Leung of Simon Fraser were the only two women to shoot even par or better in the two-round tournament featuring six squads ranked in the GolfStat Top 25.

This is the eye-popping 10th conference weekly honor for the back-to-back CCAA Golfer of the Year, 2018-19 CCAA Female Athlete of the Year and 2019 NCAA Division II individual champion.

Jacob rolled in a tournament-best 28 pars and carded an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole during Monday’s round. She paced Cal State San Marcos to the team title as the Cougars claimed a 10-stroke victory over West Texas A&M, their closest competitors in the event. Along with Jacob’s second-place tally, sophomore Breann Horn placed third and senior Savannah Magallon finished sixth in the wire-to-wire finish. Cal State San Marcos has now earned the title in three of their four fall events in 2019.

Next, the Cougars break for winter, hitting the links at the San Diego State Lamkin Invitational Feb. 10-11.
