Plascencia Runs to Season's Final CCAA Weekly Award

After closing the regular season against Division I foes, freshman Chris Plascencia has earned CCAA Runner of the Week for Oct. 14-20.
The first-year runner out of Marina took to the course in the invitational division at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Plascencia covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:29.7 in the final tune-up for the Otters prior to the 2019 CCAA Cross Country Championships.
Plascencia crossed the line in 94th out of 178 runners with the fourth-fastest 8K by a freshman runner in Otter program history, leading Cal State Monterey Bay to a 21st place team finish.
Next, competitors across the conference converge on Baywood Golf & Country Club to race in the
2019 CCAA Cross Country Championships this Saturday. The women’s 6K opens the day at 9 a.m., with the men’s 8K to follow at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
