Jacob Repeats as CCAA Golfer of the Week
A second-round surge vaulted Cal State San Marcos up the leaderboard and senior Jaime Jacob into the familiar place as CCAA Golfer of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1.
The Encinitas native and back-to-back conference tournament winner, Jacob jumped eight spots after carding a 69 at the Dixie State Invitational’s final round in Hurricane, Utah. With a two-day tally of 3-under 143, Jacob landed in third on the individual leaderboard compiling a tournament-best 26 pars through 36 holes at Sand Hollow GC.
With two weekly awards already in 2019, Jacob has now accumulated nine CCAA Golfer of the Week awards in her career. This is just the third year the sport has been CCAA-sponsored.
The third-ranked Cougars vaulted to the top of the standings after posting the lowest team round of the tournament on Tuesday to claim their second team trophy in as many tries. Cal State San Marcos surged past Simon Fraser and Holy Names with a total of 297-285–582 for a two-stroke victory over the Clan.
The Cougars take a weekend off before traveling to St. Albans, Mo., for the DII National Preview Oct. 14-15.
