Career High Sets Up Jensen for CCAA Weekly Honors
Helping her team with a career-high performance in a perfect weekend, San Francisco State setter Payton Jensen has been tapped as CCAA Player of the Week for Sept. 23-29.
The sophomore from Burbank came up big for the Gators in a pair of victories over divisional foes. Jensen had three aces and eight digs with three kills and 41 assists in the home sweep over Stanislaus State Friday. She then followed on Saturday with a career-high 57 assist performance in a five-set thriller over Chico State. Against the Wildcats, Jensen also had four kills and added a block.
Both her 41-assists in a three-set match and a total tally of 57 dishes in a match rank second on the season in the CCAA. Jensen is also leading the league in assists per set (10.73), good for 22nd nationally.
San Francisco State takes to the court for their third match in five days tonight against Stanislaus State. The Gators and Warriors tussle in Turlock to complete the season series at 6 p.m.
