UC San Diego's Williams Collects Third Weekly Award of Season

For the third time this season, UC San Diego forward Mikayla Williams has played her way to CCAA Player of the Week for Dec. 31-Jan. 6.

Hailing from Meath Park, Saskatchewan, Williams has been pacing the No. 9 team in the land to an undefeated record, most recently averaging 18.0 points 12.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists to power the Tritons to a trio of victories. Her impressive week earns the junior her third conference weekly award of the season, and the fifth of her career at UC San Diego.

Williams closed out the calendar year with 20-point, 17-rebound effort in a New Years Eve victory over Sonoma State. She then recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds in a hard-fought win over Cal State LA on Thursday, before posting a game-high 21 points with six rebounds against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday. Williams dished out four assists against both the Seawolves and the Golden Eagles, running her weekly tally to 10.

Williams leads the conference in scoring (20.1 ppg), field-goal percentage (.557), free-throw percentage (.855) and is second in rebounding (11.3 rpg), and with seven double-doubles on the season ranks 15th nationally.

UC San Diego closes out a three-game road swing Saturday, traveling to Stanislaus State for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
