Chico State's Josh McCollum Earns CCAA Weekly Award

SAN RAMON, Calif. –– After putting together three sub-par rounds to claim medalist honors, Chico State senior Josh McCollum has been named CCAA Golfer of the Week for Sept. 19-25. McCollum is sharing this week’s honors with Stanislaus State’s Kobie Lockwood.

McCollum rolled in back-to-back rounds of 68 followed by a 71 to land atop the leaderboard at the season-opening Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham, Wash. The Upland native totaled 16 birdies over the three rounds, the most among the 104 players. He also led the field in par-4 scoring average at 3.83.

The Wildcats finished second in the team standings, as one of only two teams firing under-par totals on the week, two strokes behind hosts Western Washington.

Chico State next competes in the Division II National Preview on Oct. 1-2 in Daniels, W. Va.
