SAN RAMON, Calif. — After sizzling performances on the track and in the jumps Cal State LA’s Khallifah Rosser and Tyler Arroyo of Chico State have been tabbed as California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week for March 26-April 1.

CCAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Khallifah Rosser again dazzled on the track to pick up back-to-back CCAA Track Athlete of the Week honors. The senior from Fontana recorded the nation’s No. 1 time in the 400 meters and an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark at UCLA’s Jim Bush Invitational.

He finished first in the event with a mark of 46.19, and also helped his squad in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The 4x100 men took fourth in 40.95, good for a provisional qualifying time, and the 4x400 team finished second with a season-best of 34:16.01.

Rosser also owns the country’s top mark in the 400 hurdles, across all divisions.

Tyler Arroyo keeps reaching new heights in the high jump, winning the event in every meet he has participated in for Chico State, en route to his second weekly honor from the CCAA. The junior from San Diego cleared 2.17 meters at the Stanford Invitational, besting a field of athletes from Division I and II while earning an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the process.

After clearing 2.14 to secure the victory over Arizona’s Justine Summerset, Arroyo kept raising the bar to 2.17 to nab the best mark in NCAA Division II thus far this season. Additionally, that jump puts him second in Wildcats’ program history, only trailing Imad Jamal’s leap of 2.18 m in 1984.
