Lenney, Vesia Notch CCAA Baseball Weekly Awards Apr 10, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. — Back-to-back walk-off hits for Sonoma State’s Josh Lenney and a new place in the Pioneers record books for Alex Vesia earned the duo California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for April 2-9. CCAA Baseball Player of the Week Josh Lenney led the Seawolves to a four-game sweep of Cal State San Bernardino over the weekend, hitting a pair of walk-off singles in back-to-back extra-inning games. This marks Lenney’s second weekly honor of the 2018 season. Lenney went 10-for-18 from the plate for a .556 hitting percentage and a .611 slugging percentage. He collected six RBI and scored six times over the series with the Coyotes. April 8 proved a stellar day for the junior from Santa Rosa, as he went 7-for-9, scoring all six of his weekend runs and driving in three over the course of the day's doubleheader. The Seawolves travel to the Southland this weekend, meeting up with Cal State LA. The four-year senior entered the series opener in the third inning with a 1-0 lead and the bases full of Broncos. After escaping the jam, he proceeded to finish off the game with six scoreless frames, making that 1-0 score hold up in a brilliant pitcher's dual against Cal Poly Pomona’s Ryan Alsworth. Vesia struck out a career-high 10 batters and issued just one walk. The Alpine native has not allowed an earned run over his last 26 innings, boasts 5-2 record for the season, and ranks second in the CCAA among qualified pitchers with a 2.09 ERA. He also now ranks first in Pioneer history with 21 victories and 221 career punchouts. Next, Cal State East Bay travels to Cal State Dominguez Hills for a four-game series.
