Maddex, Alnas Earn CCAA Track and Field Athlete of the Week Mar 6, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. — Provisional qualifying marks and multiple event victories for Ashlea Maddex and Krystal Alnas propelled the pair to California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Track and Field Athlete of the Week for Feb. 26-March 4. CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Ashlea Maddex, hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, opened up her spring campaign with a bang. The sophomore for Cal State LA won her first outdoor 100 hurdles race of the season with a time of 13.59. The time ranks No. 1 in the nation in the early season and was just shy of the the automatic qualifying standard of 13.45. Maddex also led the Golden Eagles relay teams to wins in the 4x100 (48.05) and 4x400 (4:08.54) at the Cal State LA Invitational. 2018 CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Feb. 17-25 Atiya Harvey, San Francisco State Feb. 26-March 4 Ashlea Maddex, Cal State LA CCAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week Krystal Alnas swept her events with three victories and improved on her own Stanislaus State school record in the shot put. Her new personal-best mark of 13.75-meters (45 feet, 1.5 inches) is also a NCAA National Championship provisional qualifying mark. The senior from Hollister also won the hammer event with a provisional mark of 57.93-meters (190-1), just shy of the automatic qualifying distance (60.48m). Rounding out her events at the Kim Duyst Invitational, Alnas also won the discus throw at 42.23m (138' - 6.75").
