SAN RAMON, Calif. — A successful weekend at Stanislaus State’s Kim Duyst Invitational for Michael Mrgudic and Tyler Arroyo earned the duo California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week for Feb. 26-March 4.

CCAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Michael Mrgudic broke a 41-year old Stanislaus State record in the 5000-meter run with a NCAA Provisional Time of 14:32.88. The senior from Northridge won the 5K at the Kim Duyst Invitational breaking Bill Britten's record of 14:34.24. His accomplishment is also particularly impressive as he had to warm-up a second time after the meet was suspended for 30 minutes due to lightning prior to the 5000-meter events.

Arroyo cleared the winning mark on his third and final attempt, besting Cal Poly Pomona’s Domunique Stewart, who ended up second at 2.05, also earning a provisional mark.

The field athletes for the Wildcats have opened the year on a tear, claiming both CCAA Athlete of the Week honors thus far this spring.
