Rosser, Strong Come up Big at Oxy Distance Carnival for Weekly Awards Mar 13, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. — Two CCAA athletes at the Occidental Distance Carnival - Cal State LA hurdler and sprinter Khallifah Rosser and Cal State San Marcos thrower Ndoto Strong - made a splash en route to conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for March 5-11. CCAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Cal State LA senior Khallifah Rosser won the 800 meters at the Occidental Distance Carnival with a time of 1:53.10. The Fontana native edged Cal State Bakersfield’s Curtis Threlkeld by three-tenths of a second in the victory to acquire the top time in NCAA Division II this season. The 2016 NCAA Division II 400 hurdles champion now has the No. 1 mark in the nation in two events - the 800 and the 400 hurdles. The junior from Marysville, Wash., broke his own school record and made Cal State San Marcos’ first NCAA provisional national qualifier mark in school history in the shot put. His event-winning throw of 16.20 meters outpaced his closest competition by more than a meter. He also took second in the discus with a hurl of 44.93 meters.
