SAN RAMON, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay’s Hayden Duer and Chase Wheatcroft of Stanislaus State have earned California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 5-11.

CCAA Baseball Player of the Week
Senior Hayden Duer bookended the weekend series against Chico State with style en route to earning CCAA Player of the Week accolades.

The senior from Davis ended the longest game in Chico State history and the second longest game in Cal State Monterey Bay history with a two-run, walk-off double to give the Otters the 12-11 win in 15 innings in Game 1 of the series to open the weekend’s action between the leagues top two teams. He ended the series with a game-winning home run to break a 3-3 tie in the 6th inning of the seven-inning game Sunday afternoon.

Next up is a trip to Turlock to take on the Warriors. First pitch of the four-game series is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.

Chase Wheatcroft has been a huge reason for the Warriors winning close games and that was most certainly again the case this week against Cal State East Bay. The junior from Santa Clarita was part of all three Stanislaus State victories over the Pioneers as he recorded two saves with a win.

Wheatcroft closed out both Friday's opener and Saturday's game one for his 9th and 10th save. Then in the series finale on Sunday, he recorded the final four outs in the game while the Warriors rallied for the win to earn a save. Including Monday’s carryover games against Sonoma State due to weather, Wheatcroft posted three saves and a win as the Warriors went 4-2
