Mikayla Williams Nabs Season's Final CCAA Player of the Week Honor Feb 27, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. — UC San Diego’s Mikayla Williams’ hot hand in the final week of the regular season earned the sophomore California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Feb. 20-26. The sophomore forward from Meath Park, Saskatchewan, Canada, averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting an incredible 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) from the field in a pair of home victories for the Tritons. Williams scored a career-high 26 points with six rebounds in Saturday’s win over Cal State LA, after recording 21 points and nine rebounds in Thursday’s victory against CSU Dominguez Hills. She connected on 10 of her 11 attempts from the field and went 6-of-7 from the line against the Golden Eagles She has scored in double-figures in 16-consecutive games, and currently ranks second in the conference in field-goal percentage, seventh in scoring and sixth in rebounding. Williams and the Tritons host a CCAA Championship first-round game tonight. UC San Diego, the No. 1 seed and regular season champions, takes on No. 8 Sonoma State at 5:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to Friday’s semifinal at Cal Poly Pomona.
