Ryne Williams Selected as CCAA Player of the Week

SAN RAMON, Calif. – A career night for Ryne Williams propelled the San Francisco State senior to CCAA Player of the Week for Nov. 26-Dec. 3.

His banner night came in an overtime loss to nationally-ranked Cal Poly Pomona, where he poured in career-highs of 33 points with six three pointers and eight rebounds along with two blocks for the Gators. Williams shot 55 percent from the floor en route to his new scoring benchmark.

The Castaic native followed that up with a 12-point, six-rebound effort in a 65-49 win over Chico State on Saturday. Williams is currently ranked third in the CCAA in rebounding (7.7 rpg), third in blocks (1.6 bpg), eighth in field goal percentage (48.1 percent), and ninth in three-point percentage (34.8 percent). He is also leading the league in defensive rebounds per game with 6.29 per night.

Next, the Gators travel to the Southland, taking on the current conference leaders and preseason favorite UC San Diego Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Then, San Francisco State meets up with Cal State San Marcos Saturday at 3 p.m.
