Helping lead the charge for Cal State East Bay in its best start of the CCAA era, Juwan Anderson has been tapped as CCAA Player of the Week for Dec. 17-19.

Anderson, a guard from Oakland, posted an outstanding performance in the Pioneer’s lone game of the holiday-shortened week, an 83-76 road win at San Francisco State on Monday night. The senior had the hot hand, scoring a game-high 21 points on 7-for-13 shooting and a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line. He also went 3-for-5 from long distance and added five assists and three steals.

Anderson has led East Bay to its best start ever as members of the CCAA with a 5-1 record, and he ranks No. 2 in the conference in both assists per game (3.9) and assist to turnover ratio (2.17). His 91.7 percent clip from the stripe is also second in the league, and stands as 18th in NCAA Division II.

Cal State East Bay returns to the court after winter break, traveling to Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 3 p.m., their last contest of the calendar year.
