San Francisco State's Stephens Nets CCAA Weekly Award
After producing a third of the San Francisco State offense in a victorious effort against Cal State San Bernardino, senior Jhaina Stephens has been selected as CCAA Player of the Week for Dec. 10-16.
Stephens registered her third double-double of the year with a season-high 23 points and 17 rebounds, which ties a career best for the senior. She also went 9-for-12 from the line, marking the free throws made by a Gator since 2013. The East Palo Alto native also added a season-high four steals in the 69-57 win against Cal State San Bernardino.
This marks the first career weekly award for Stephens, as she is the first Gator to receive the distinction since the 2013-14 season.
The Gators are now on winter break, after taking down Cal State East Bay 69-60 last night to bring their win streak to three. San Francisco State will return to the court in the new year, traveling to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Jan. 3.
