Gators Clinch Final Championship Spot as Johnson Earns Weekly Award Nov 6, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. – Helping San Francisco State secure entry into the postseason with a four-match winning streak, junior middle blocker Bailey Johnson has been named the final Player of the Week for the 2018 campaign. Hailing from Orlando, Fla., Johnson hit .486 with 22 kills (3.14 kills/set), six blocks and three digs as the Gators extended the streak to four straight wins. She opened up with 15 kills and a dominating .522 hitting mark in the four-set win against Sonoma State Thursday on the road. Then, Johnson helped the Gators to a sweep of Humboldt State Saturday to close the regular-season slate and secured San Francisco State’s first postseason berth since 2015. The Gators take on the tough task of the No. 1 seed in the south and top team in the nation, Cal State San Bernardino in the CCAA Volleyball Championship quarterfinals. That quarterfinal nightcap is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena in Turlock.
