Hansen Collects Second Player of the Week Award

SAN RAMON, Calif. – After a banner start to the season for Chris Hansen, the San Diego junior has earned his second CCAA Player of the Week award of his comeback season. The Tritons have claimed all three conference weekly honors of the 2017-18 season.

Ranked No. 19 in the last NABC Coaches Poll, the Tritons rolled to a 2-0 start in CCAA play, defeating Cal State San Bernardino and Chico State by an average margin of victory of 25 points over the holiday week. Last Tuesday, Hansen led UC San Diego to the win over the Coyotes after pouring in career highs of 29 points and six 3-pointers. He added a game-high 11 rebounds to notch the double-double.

Then, Hansen added a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with a game-high 22 points on 70 percent shooting from the floor as the Tritons defeated the Wildcats 84-68 on Saturday. For the week, Hansen averaged 25.5 points on 59 percent shooting with 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He swished eight of his 14 attempts from three and connected on 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the successful week.

The Tritons next travel to Cal State Monterey Bay for a Thursday night contest, followed by a trip to Cal State San Marcos to take on the Cougars Saturday afternoon.
