SAN RAMON, Calif. – After returning to the court and putting the West on notice with a first-week upset, UC San Diego junior Chris Hansen has been named CCAA Player of the Week for Nov. 5-11.

Hansen, a junior center from Lafayette, scored game-high 26 points in Saturday’s upset of No. 14 Western Washington, one short of his career-high. He went 11-for-14 from the field with two 3-pointers and added four rebounds and two blocks in the 97-92 home win. Prior to Saturday’s special, Hansen went for a double-double with team-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win versus Simon Fraser on Friday.

All told, Hansen averaged 22.5 points on 75 percent shooting from the floor, hitting four of his seven 3-point attempts en route to a place on the CCAA/GNAC Challenge All-Tournament Team. This is the first-game action Hansen has seen in 20 months after sitting out the 2017-18 campaign after shoulder surgery.

Last night, the Tritons dispatched Saint Martin’s to move to 3-0 on the year. Next is a date at Point Loma tomorrow at 7 p.m.
