SAN RAMON, Calif. – After helping the Pioneers to a trio of victories, Cal State East Bay senior Lindsey Ray has been named CCAA Player of the Week for Oct. 1-7.

Hailing from Long Beach, Ray has an impressive week on both sides of the net for the Pioneers as the squad extended their winning streak to six and climbed to a share for the top of the CCAA North standings. After falling behind 2-1 to Chico State on Tuesday, East Bay won eight consecutive sets, defeating the Wildcats in five, then sweeping Sonoma State and Humboldt State over the weekend.

Ray tallied 15 kills, two aces, and 23 digs against Chico State. She followed up her double-double in the comeback to hit .450 with a team-high 11 kills against the Seawolves, then hit .375 with 12 kills and 11 digs against the Jacks to round out the weekend. Ray averaged 3.45 kills and 3.72 digs per set while swinging to a .337 hitting percentage, adding four aces and making just eight total attack errors in the three victorious efforts.

Cal State East Bay hosts a pair of Bay Area rivals this week, first welcoming San Francisco State for a Dig for a Cure match on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Then, the Pioneers will tussle with Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday.
