SAN RAMON, Calif. – After an unstoppable weekend to power Cal State San Bernardino back to the nation’s No. 1 spot, Coyote Alexis Cardoza has been selected at CCAA Player of the Week for Oct. 22-28.

Cardoza, a sophomore from Chino Hills, compiled 38 kills on .479 hitting while adding 25 digs in Cal State San Bernardino’s matches against Southland foes Cal State Dominguez Hills and then-No. 9 Cal State LA to lead the squad in the pair of victories and lock up the South’s No. 1 seed in the upcoming 2018 CCAA Volleyball Championship.

Cardoza notched a 13-kill, 10-dig double-double in a sweep of the Toros on Friday and then followed it up with 25 kills and 15 digs in a four-set victory against the Golden Eagles. Averaging nearly two kills per set more than her season stat line, Cardoza leads the CCAA with 4.65, which is good for fifth nationally.

The Coyotes close the regular-season on the road at Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday at 7 p.m., before headlining the CCAA Championship brackets with three days of action slated to start in Turlock on Nov. 8.
