SAN RAMON, Calif. – Chico State goalkeeper Brenna Meier was in top-notch form for the Wildcats in the final week of the regular-season as her career-high performance lifted her to the final CCAA Player of the Week of 2018.

Playing her her final collegiate homestand in front of her hometown crown, Meier was masterful. First, she  made a career-high nine saves in a 1-0 victory over Cal State San Marcos Thursday night. Then, she stacked up six more saves in a 1-0 win against 6th-ranked UC San Diego Saturday, shutting out the Tritons for just the second time all season.

Meier recorded eight shutouts in 13 regular season starts for the Wildcats, and was almost untouchable at home, recording six shutouts in seven starts at University Soccer Stadium. Meier leads the CCAA in goals-against average (.498), saves percentage (.892), and shutouts per match (.615).

With the pair of victorious efforts, the Wildcats secured the No. 2 seed in the 2018 CCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament, and will await the winner of Tuesday’s first-round match between No. 3 Sonoma State at No. 6 Cal State LA. The Seawolves and the Golden Eagles kick off the first round in Rohnert Park at 2 p.m.
