Weekly Honors for Postseason-Bound Tami Kwong
SAN RAMON, Calif. – San Francisco State sophomore Tami Kwong helped elevate the Gators into the postseason with a pair of goals en route to CCAA Player of the Week for Oct. 14-21.
Hailing from Pleasanton, Kwong scored the lone goal of the contest and eventual game-winner in Friday’s victory over Stanislaus State. She ten scored the equalizer in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over then-undefeated Chico State to close the weekend and secure a postseason appearance.
Kwong leads the Gators with five goals on the year. Her .71 points per game and .357 goals per game are both seventh most in the CCAA. This marks Kwong’s second weekly award from the conference, after earning Player of the Week once as a freshman.
San Francisco State closed their conference slate last weekend, solidifying their first bid to the CCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament since 2010. The Gators play one more regular-season non-conference contest, traveling to UC Merced for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
