SAN RAMON, Calif. – After leading Chico State to a perfect score and his first collegiate individual title, Wyatt Baxter has been selected as CCAA Runner of the Week for Oct. 14-21. Baxter is sharing the weekly honor with San Francisco State’s John Lawson.

Baxter, a sophomore from Simi Valley, led a procession of eight straight Chico State athletes across the finish line at the Triton Classic, giving the Wildcats a score of 15 points and their fourth win in four tries this season. He covered the eight-kilometer course, which features narrow, undulating trails that wind through a eucalyptus grove, in 25:34.9, beating teammate Eddie King to the line by 1.1 seconds.

Both Lawson and Baxter are expected to take to the CCAA Championships course Nov. 3 in San Bernardino, with Baxter’s Wildcats seeking their 17th-consecutive conference crown. Championships Central >>>
