SAN RAMON, Calif. – After racing to a third-place individual finish in San Francisco State’s first 10K of the season, senior John Lawson has earned CCAA Runner of the Week for Oct. 14-21. Lawson is sharing the weekly honor with Chico State’s Wyatt Baxter.

Lawson traversed the 10K course in 31:55.0 at the Western Washington Classic in Belingham, Wash., and was just 15 seconds off first-place finisher Felix Kemboi of Alaska Anchorage. The senior from Anselmo and UC Berkeley transfer to the Gators ran an average kilometer pace of 3:11.5 to help San Francisco State to an eighth-place finish in the field of 15 teams, as the only CCAA squad in the field.

Both Lawson and Baxter are expected to take to the CCAA Championships course Nov. 3 in San Bernardino, with Baxter’s Wildcats seeking their 17th-consecutive conference crown. Championships Central >>>
