Cal State Monterey Bay's Tobin Tabbed for CCAA Weekly Honors
SAN RAMON, Calif. – After an historic week at the Kelp Bed, Cal State Monterey Bay sophomore Jenna Tobin has earned the nod as CCAA Player of the Week for Sept. 24-30.
Tobin posted her third and fourth double-doubles of the season to lead the Otters to a 3-0 week over CCAA foes Sonoma State, Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego. The sophomore from Modesto led the Otters to an epic rally after dropping the first two sets and trailing and 11-17 in the third to help spark the squad to a five-set win over Sonoma State Tuesday. Tobin finished with 14 kills and 11 digs in the successful comeback bid.
After posting 13 more kills in a three-set win over the Cougars on Friday, Tobin led the Otters to their first-ever sweep of UC San Diego in program history to cap the week. She posted a 14-kill, 14-dig double-double against the Tritons, to close the three-match week swinging at a .355 clip with 41 kills and 30 digs.
Cal State Monterey Bay will look to maintain its share of the CCAA North lead on the road, playing division foe Chico State on Friday before facing off at Stanislaus State Saturday. Both matches are slated for a 7 p.m. start.
